Nikolai Zemlyanskikh

Baritone

The baritone from Volgograd – Nikolai Zemlyanskikh – has been studying at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg since 2015. He joined the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theater in the 2019/20 season. Mr Zemlyanskikh has been undertaking vocal studies with the Artistic Director of the Program Dmitry Vdovin, Makvala Kasrashvili, and Svetlana Nesterenko and has attended masterclasses with Neil Shikoff, Florence Daguerre, John Fisher, and Evamaria Wieser. He has performed at chamber music concerts at the Beethoven Hall under the guidance of Ivari Ilja, Semen Skigin, and Luba Orfenova.
 
In November 2019, he opened Alexandra Pakhmutova’s 90th anniversary concert at the Bolshoi with her famous song The Melody and in December 2019, he took part in the 10th anniversary of the Young Artist Program Gala Concert at the Historical Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre, singing Papageno’s aria from the final and the duet with Papagena (Die Zauberflöte).
 
In February 2020 he completed an internship at the Music Academy of the 13th Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi. Nikolai has already performed at the Salzburg Festival in 2021 as well as Ireland’s Wexford Festival Opera in 2022.
